Every year, one of the highlights of Medica for start-up entrepreneurs is the Start-up Competition and the Healthcare Innovation World Cup. In this competition, start-ups pitch in various categories for the best solution for the Internet of Medical Things.

The crowd is always substantial at the Medica Start-up Competition. Attendees anxiously await the naming of the winners.

This year’s winners of the Medica Start-up Competition are: 1. Nanose Medical (Israel), 2. Acorai (Sweden), 3. Oxyprem (Switzerland). The competition is part of the Medica Innovation Forum agenda.

The Medica Econ Forum by TK, jointly organized by Messe Düsseldorf and Techniker Krankenkasse (TK), takes place for the 14th time (in Hall 12). Against the backdrop of current health policy and economic challenges, there are exciting discussions and presentations by experts from politics, medicine, business, and science on new trends and current developments in the healthcare sector. The focus will be, for example, on the digitalization of care and securing funding for service providers.

Wearable technologies—long considered established in the health sector—are still in high demand, and this product area is likely to be characterized by further market growth in the future. There are many reasons for this: wearables are becoming more and more powerful and are demonstrably improving the diagnosis and therapy of a variety of diseases. The spectrum of exciting applications ranges from continuous cardiovascular tracking to smart devices for use in wound care to novel battery technologies. A selection of innovations are presented at the large joint “Wearable Technologies Show” stand during Medica.
Following is a glimpse at several of the displays within the halls of Medica.
