Syensqo has launched a new medical-grade Amodel polyphthalamide (PPA) to market. The glass-filled polymer is engineered for advanced single-use medical devices, delivering exceptional heat resistance, robust electrical properties, and key biocompatibility requirements for limited contact duration medical applications, according to the company.

Amodel PPA features a high melting point above 300 °C and maintains mechanical strength at temperatures up to 280 °C. These properties make it ideal for demanding manufacturing processes such as surface-mount technology (SMT) assembly, infrared (IR) reflow, and metal overmolding. The material is particularly well-suited for electrosurgical instruments and electronic device assemblies, where complex, injection-molded geometries offer advantages over alternative materials, Synesqo executives said.

“For decades, brands like Radel and Udel have helped advance medical technologies. With medical-grade Amodel PPA, we’re extending that legacy, giving customers a new option for devices that must withstand modern assembly processes,” said Natalie Dragunat, global marketing manager, Healthcare, at Syensqo.

Amodel PPA medical-grade currently is available for sampling; commercial availability is expected in 2026.

Syensqo (pronounced “Science Co.”) is a Belgian multinational materials company.
