Baxter International announced that CEO/President/Chairman José (Joe) E. Almeida is immediately retiring from his three executive roles but will serve in an advisory capacity through Oct. 31. He has held his position as CEO for the past nine years. Brent Shafer has been appointed chair and interim CEO and has recruited a leading search firm to begin the search for Almeida’s permanent replacement.

In M&A news, Arterex acquired Adroit USA. This expands Arterex’s global footprint in medical device contract manufacturing with additional manufacturing plants in India from Adroit.

FemPulse gained IDE approval from the FDA to begin its EVANESCE II pivotal clinical trial in female patients suffering from overactive bladder (OAB). The condition is the first application of FemPulse’s patented female health platform.

Hyperfine entered new distribution agreements for its brain imaging system (Swoop). It will now be distributed in Turkey, Israel, and Saudi Arabia. This adds to distribution agreements that established last year, targeting future expansion across 13 European markets, India, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
