Medtech Makers, M&A activity, and new launches were on the top of the list this past week.

Editor-in-Chief Sean Fenske sat with Ray Scherer, Global Engineering Manager at Aptyx, to discuss how Additives incorporated into the plastics can help achieve physical characteristics that provide favorable attributes not otherwise realized. Scherer explains the benefits of filled resin, what the medtech applications are for fillers, and more.

Fenske also talked with a pair of experts from Beaufort: Karin Hughes, Ph.D., Senior Vice President of Global Regulatory & Quality, and Bill Trembley, Senior Vice President, and Chief Technology Officer, to discuss how Digital solutions can help enable an efficient and cost-effective clinical trial while also enhancing participation and compliance.

In M&A news, Akkodis acquired Raland to expand its presence in the Life Sciences industry and its consulting capabilities. Philips also announced that it is selling its Emergency Care business to Bridgefield Capital.

This week, AVS announced that it completed its Series B financing round with $36 million. Funds will go towards the launch of its Pulse IVL platform which uses high-frequency hydraulic pulsatile pressure waves to treat arterial calcium.
