Medtronic began broad U.S. launch of the MiniMed 780G system integrated with the Instinct sensor made by Abbott and designed exclusively for MiniMed systems.

The Instinct sensor is based on Abbott’s continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) technology, which is small, thin, and discreet with a wear time of up to 15 days. When it’s paired with MiniMed 780G, the Instinct sensor offers real-time glucose readings that the system uses to automate insulin adjustments every five minutes.

Launching the Instinct sensor expands Medtronic’s sensor portfolio, offering more choice along with the recently launched Simplera Sync sensor and Guardian 4 sensor.
