Japan’s medical imaging sector is gaining momentum with a broader adoption of ultrasound diagnostic systems. Consequently, the country’s ultrasound systems market is projected to reach $1.265 billion in 2034, according to GlobalData.

The company’s latest report, “Ultrasound Systems Market Size by Segments, Share, Regulatory, Reimbursement, Installed Base and Forecast to 2036,” reveals that Japan comprised about 30% of the Asia-Pacific ultrasound devices market last year. This share is expected to grow as healthcare providers increasingly seek more advanced imaging technologies.

Konica Minolta Inc. introduced the SONIMAGE UX1 diagnostic ultrasound series this year to provide high-resolution imaging for various clinical uses. With advanced image processing, a compact design, and enhanced usability, the system helps clinicians perform more accurate and efficient exams across diverse medical settings.

“The introduction of advanced diagnostic ultrasound systems in Japan underscores the nation’s dedication to develop precision-focused medical technologies,” Global Data Medical Devices Analyst Anindita Ghosh said. “Backed by a solid regulatory framework and a strong emphasis on patient safety, Japan provides a conducive environment for adopting innovative diagnostic solutions. The SONIMAGE UX1 series offers precision imaging, supported by the X20L linear probe that delivers enhanced image resolution and clarity. It helps clinicians achieve faster, more confident diagnoses while enhancing overall patient care efficiency.”

“The launch of advanced devices such as SONIMAGE UX1 is expected to strengthen Japan’s ultrasound imaging capabilities,” Ghosh concluded. “As Japan continues to advance in medical innovation, such technologies are likely to contribute to the gradual enhancement of diagnostic efficiency and precision across Japan’s healthcare settings.”
