Bharat has good reason to smile these days: its dental devices market is forecast to swell 12.5% annually over the next nine years as the country advances toward modernization and further embraces technological innovation.

According to GlobalData’s Medical Intelligence Centre, India’s dental devices market is among the fastest-growing in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region and accounted for 12.4% of the regional market share last year. This share is expected to increase due to rising oral healthcare awareness, growing demand for advanced dental procedures, continued expansion of private dental clinics and hospitals, and improved access to dental care across semi-urban areas.

“In recent years, India’s dental healthcare sector has seen the increasing adoption of CAD/CAM systems for same-day fabrication of dental crowns and bridges, alongside strong growth in cosmetic dentistry,” GlobalData Medical Devices analyst Priyanka Chakraborty said. “This cosmetic segment is largely driven by demand for aesthetic procedures involving teeth whitening systems, clear aligners, and dental handpieces for smile enhancement.”

In January, Dentalkart, India’s largest online dental marketplace, announced a partnership with dental rotary equipment maker NSK Japan to connect Indian dentists directly with the manufacturer through a transparent, digital-first platform. The alliance aims to establish an authorized distribution channel that guarantees genuine NSK products at a standardized price, while minimizing counterfeit risk and supply inconsistencies.

Dentalkart will list NSK’s complete range, from basic handpieces like airotors to advanced surgical systems, positioning itself as a one-stop shop for dental equipment. The direct model also strengthens warranty and service support, improves spare-parts access, boosts customer trust, and helps curb the grey market for dental handpieces.

“With India’s dental care landscape entering a high-growth, technology-led phase, it is poised to expand its influence in the APAC region,” Chakraborty stated. “Partnerships such as Dentalkart and NSK Japan are expected to ensure fair pricing and smooth distribution of authentic products, signaling a shift towards a more reliable, efficient, and patient-centric dental ecosystem for India’s expanding population.”
