Aspen Surgical Hires ex-Cantel CEO as Chief Exec

Jørgen Hanson was also CEO of Ivenix Medical before its successful exit to Fresenius Kabi.

Aspen Surgical, a manufacturer and supplier that provides tools to advance the perioperative experience, has appointed Jørgen B. Hansen as its new chief executive officer (CEO), effective immediately.

Hanson boasts over 30 years of leadership experience in the medical technology and patient care sectors. He was previously president and CEO of Cantel Medical (acquired by STERIS in 2021), where the company’s revenue expanded more than twice and the M&A program finished 23 deals over his seven-year stint.

Hanson was also CEO of Ivenix Medical before its successful exit to Fresenius Kabi, as well as CEO of Gravitas Medical. He has also served in senior roles at Coloplast and Convatec.

“Aspen Surgical has a strong foundation and significant opportunities ahead,” said Hansen. “I am excited to work with the team to drive growth, strengthen execution, and continue Aspen Surgical’s commitment to serving clinicians and patients.”

Audax Private Equity began investing in Aspen Surgical in 2019. Since then, the business has shown market traction and consistent growth through both organic and inorganic growth drivers of growth. Over the period, the company has finished eight acquisitions, including the recent purchases of Flagship Surgical and Cygnus Medical in the summer of 2025.

Caledonia, Mich.-based Aspen Surgical provides a growing portfolio of surgical tools and solutions, as well as trusted brands that ensure consistent performance day after day, including Bard-Parker, Bovie, Bookwalter, Olsen, and others.
