AM Solutions – 3D post-processing technology has launched its compact M1 system to set a new benchmark for automated surface finishing of additive-manufactured parts in metal and polymer.

The new M1 replaces the previous M1 Basic and brings various new features aimed at customers desiring production-grade surfaces from a flexible, easy-to-integrate machine. Positioned as a “versatile allrounder” for additive manufacturing, the new M1 combines smoothing, grinding, polishing, and deburring in a single vibratory finishing platform. Parts up to 550 × 150 × 130 mm can be processed as individual components or in small batches, with a divider system that allows up to three process steps to run in parallel without changing media—ideal for multi-stage finishing recipes.

“The first M1 Basic proved how powerful vibratory finishing can be for additive,” said Colin Spellacy, head of U.K. sales at AM Solutions. “But our customers asked for more flexibility, better ergonomics, and even higher process stability. The new M1 is our answer. It turns what used to be an entry-level solution into an advanced production tool.”

Key upgrades include an additional fresh-water connection that enables processing with AM Solutions’ Keramo-Finish for exceptional surface quality, a redesigned processing trough with end-side profiling and extra partitions, and a new separation concept that shifts media/part separation onto a dedicated material cart for smoother workflow and higher throughput.

Despite the added capability, the M1 retains its compact, mobile footprint and plug-and-play philosophy. An integrated settling tank, modern HMI with intuitive menu navigation, and low noise levels make it easy to position alongside printers or within existing finishing cells. Users can choose to run in closed-loop process-water recirculation or fresh-water operation, depending on quality and productivity demands. Booth settings are fully automated and controlled by the machine and PLC.

“For many AM users, the real bottleneck isn’t printing, it’s finishing,” Spellacy added. “With the relaunched M1, we’re giving them a robust, repeatable, and economically attractive way to turn rough builds into market-ready products, without jumping straight to a large, fully automated line. It closes the gap between R&D and industrial production.”

With the M1 launch, AM Solutions strengthens its scalable portfolio of AM-specific post-processing technologies, offering manufacturers a clear pathway from first trials to fully industrialized, automated finishing, all underpinned by Rösler’s decades of mass-finishing expertise.

For more than 90 years, the privately-owned Rösler Oberflächentechnik GmbH has been actively engaged in surface preparation and surface finishing. The company offers equipment, consumables, and services around mass finishing and shot blasting technologies for numerous industries. Its range of about 15,000 consumables, developed in Customer Experience Centers and laboratories worldwide, services customers’ individual finishing needs. Under the brand name AM Solutions, Rösler offers numerous equipment solutions and services in additive manufacturing/3D printing. As a central training center, the Rösler Academy offers practical, hands-on seminars on mass finishing, shot blasting, and lean management. The Rösler group operates in 15 locations with approximately 150 sales agents.
