ITEK, a Costa Rican company specializing in Manufacturing as a Service (MaaS) solutions for the medical device and tech industries, revealed it will expand its operations with a new manufacturing facility located in the Dominican Republic.

The facility, located in Santo Domingo Este’s San Isidro Free Trade Zone, is anticipated to begin operations within Q1 2026. It’s the latest move from ITEK to build a better manufacturing corridor for the company.

ITEK’s MaaS model enables the company to partner with startups and established OEMs on manufacturing, supply chain, and regulatory compliance—freeing them up to focus on innovation and market access.

Once the facility is completed, the company will boast a stronger, more diverse nearshoring engine to optimize its supply chain. The strategically located manufacturing plant aims to help medical device companies efficiently scale their production. It will house device manufacturing and assembly, as well as complete supply chain solutions.

Bernal Rodriguez, ITEK’s founder and CEO, expressed excitement in moving forward in in its mission to break down manufacturing barriers for technology innovators

“The expansion to the Dominican Republic not only expands our capacity but also offers our clients unparalleled flexibility, supply chain resilience, and access to another excellent talent ecosystem,” Rodriguez told the press. “We are building a bridge between two of the region’s most important life sciences hubs for the direct benefit of our clients. It is no coincidence that, as the first Costa Rican company in medical manufacturing to expand internationally, we share this news coinciding with the celebration of Independence Day.”
