Cardinal Health has opened its newest distribution center in Fort Worth, Texas dedicated to the at-Home Solutions business. The company also revealed it will break ground on a new at-Home Solutions distribution center in Sacramento, Calif. later in its fiscal year.

The new 340,000-square-foot distribution center in Fort Worth will ship about 10,000 packages a day to people’s homes across the country, the company said. The shipments contain medical supplies needed to manage chronic conditions like diabetes, sleep apnea, and urologic conditions.

In the past three years, Cardinal Health at-Home Solutions has added over 750,000 square feet to its nationwide distribution network. A facility opened in Grove City, Ohio in April 2023 is a customer showcase location and the first Cardinal Health warehouse to feature AutoStore, automated fulfillment technology from Swisslog optimized by its SynQ software. The Greenville, S.C. facility opened in August 2024 and is the largest distribution center for the at-Home Solutions business to date.

“Investing in our supply chain is not a ‘nice to have’—it is a must-have,” said Jamie Deist, senior vice president of Supply Chain for at-Home Solutions. “We will always prioritize what is needed to ensure that our distribution network is built with our customers’ needs in mind. We’ve been intentional as we design our supply chain of the future, being extremely selective of the robotics and automation technologies that enhance our ability to get supplies shipped to patients more quickly and efficiently. No doubt this focus led to what has been the best year on record in at-Home Solutions’ history for warehouse service levels, quality, and safety.”

At the company’s recent Investor Day presentation, at-Home Solutions President Rob Schlissberg revealed plans for more expansion—breaking ground on another at-Home Solutions site in Sacramento. It will also begin retrofitting an existing Ontario, Calif. distribution center with tech featured in its newest sites.

The Sacramento building is anticipated to be operational in summer of 2027.

“Expanding in the West Coast is absolutely critical as we seek to get packages to the people we serve faster and more efficiently than ever before,” Deist said. “With numerous carrier hubs and a significant number of our customers located on the West Coast, we knew that now was the right time for us to focus on both expanding our presence and further automating our existing sites in that region of the U.S.”
