Cadence Inc., a company that specializes in contract manufacturing solutions for the medtech and pharma industries, is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2025.

The company was established in 1985 by engineer Martin Lightsey. In the last four decades, Cadence has grown into a vertically integrated global manufacturing partner that offers services from initial design and development through manufacturing and supply chain management.

The Staunton, Va.-based company operates eight facilities in the U.S. and Costa Rica with about 800 employees. Cadence’s capabilities span finished device assembly and packaging to nearshore operations, CNC grinding, precision machining, metal stamping, deep draw stamping, metal injection molding (MIM), laser processing, and plastic injection molding.

The manufacturing partner supports robotic-assisted surgery, minimally invasive surgery, drug delivery, and diagnostics.

“Forty years ago, Cadence began with a simple yet powerful vision to provide custom solutions to OEMs through engineering and innovation,” said Cadence president and CEO Rob Werge. “Today, we are a highly differentiated provider to MedTech and Pharma OEMs because of our commitment to supporting our customers’ success; however, nothing would be possible without the great team of people at Cadence.”

Recent operational improvements include strengthening New Product Introduction (NPI) services and design for manufacturability (DFM) expertise. Cadence also expanded its Staunton, Va. cleanroom operations to 5,000 square feet in September and joined the Medical Devices Cluster in Costa Rica in December.

Earlier this year, the company revealed refreshed branding and hired a new chief financial officer.

“We’re proud of the journey that brought us here and even more excited about the future we are building,” added Werge.
