ForSight Robotics, a company focused on ophthalmic robotic surgery, has completed a $125 million Series B funding round, led by Eclipse.

The investment will accelerate the next growth phase for the ORYOM platform, a robotic surgery platform for cataract and other eye diseases. The company is preparing to launch its first-in-human clinical trials this year.

ORYOM was engineered for precise, consistent ophthalmic procedures, starting with cataracts. It uses artificial intelligence (AI)-based algorithms, advanced computer vision, and micromechanics to deliver dexterity and maneuverability while providing a better ergonomic experience, the company said.

It can reach any point in the human eye, letting surgeons navigate complex angles and ensuring access to both anterior and posterior segments. This sets the stage for glaucoma and retinal surgical treatment.

The funding round follows a period of growth and company achievements. Over the past year, ForSight Robotics expanded its executive team, gained ISO 13485:2016 certification, and doubled in size, exceeding 110 employees. To date, over two dozen ophthalmic surgeons have completed hundreds of procedures on animal eye models with ORYOM. The company plans to begin robotic cataract surgery clinical trials in the coming year.

The founding team has gathered a strategic advisory board that includes Dr. Fred Moll, founder of Intuitive Surgical and the da Vinci surgical system, and Rony Abovitz, founder of Mako Surgical.

“We see ophthalmology as the next frontier in the robotics revolution—much like general surgery was before the rise of Intuitive Surgical. With a comparable market size and an urgent global need, our opportunity ahead is immense,” said Dr. Joseph Nathan, ForSight Robotics’ co-founder, president, and Chief Medical Officer. “Through our latest funding round, we will bring the same level of transformative impact to eye surgery, with technology designed specifically for its unique precision and complexity.”
