Solar Atmospheres, a family-owned heat treating company, revealed the opening of its seventh U.S. heat treat operation. The heat treat operation is an existing industrial facility in Berlin, Conn. and is anticipated to be completed in 2026.

The 28,000-square-foot facility resides in the Spruce Brook Industrial Park. It will further expand the company’s footprint and capabilities in the Northeast.

Solar Atmospheres said expansion underscores the company’s commitment to provide innovative, high-quality vacuum heat treating solutions across the nation while maintaining personalized service and reliability.

“We are excited to establish a new presence in Connecticut,” said Jamie Jones, president of Solar Atmospheres of Eastern PA and Connecticut. “This strategic location allows us to better serve our growing customer base and continue supporting the aerospace, medical, and commercial manufacturing markets throughout New England.”

In July 2024, the company began work on a new 20,000-square-foot building in its Chesterfield, Mich. location. The new facility will more than double the current footprint there.

Three months before that, Solar Atmospheres acquired Certified Metal Craft, a San Diego-based company that has extensive capabilities including vacuum, aluminum, atmospheric, endothermic, salt bath, and cryogenic processing.

The company advised to stay tuned because it plans to release updates as its newest facility is being built.
