Surface Solutions Group (SSG), a provider of medical device coating tech, expanded its production capacity by adding a new, automated electrostatic robotic coating line.

The investment brings SSG’s total to 30 coating lines—12 automated electrostatic robotic lines, eight automated dip lines, and ten manual lines—strengthening the company’s ability to
meet growing demand from medical device customers from around the world.

Each of the company’s production areas has a dedicated HVAC system with HEPA filtration for incoming and recirculated air, which reduces the risk of foreign contamination.

The company is ISO 13485-certified and specializes in formulating and applying medical coatings for a range of medical devices and components. SSG’s expertise spans guidewires, coils, mandrels, needles, hypotubes, electrosurgical blades, and more.

“SSG continues to plan proactively for future growth, ensuring that our customers can meet their own delivery schedules and scale with confidence,” said Kevin Hess, president of SSG.

The company provides 13 categories of medical coatings, many of which are PFAS-free. These include GlideMed, ElectroBond, Slick Sil LSR, and others. Surface Solutions Group’s onsite R&D coating lab has an experienced chemist and technicians that assess, formulate, and test coatings for specific applications.

The SSG team collaborates with customers to determine the right coating for their project or develop a novel coating whether the substrate is stainless steel, nitinol, silicone rubber, or something else. The company serves customers mainly in the cardiovascular, neurovascular, peripheral vascular, orthopedic, surgical, spine, and dental markets.

SSG is wholly owned by the Elektrisola Group, which has 19 production plants and 4,700 employees across the globe.
