Freudenberg Medical, a contract design, development, and manufacturing partner to the medical device and biopharma industries, underwent a leadership transition.

Effective on January 1, former chief operating officer (COO) Michael McGee took on the role of CEO. He succeeds Dr. Mark Ostwald, who moved to another leadership role at Freudenberg Medical.

McGee joined the company as COO in 2022. He touts over three decades of experience in the medical device industry. Under his leadership, the company said it continues to prioritize customer centricity through investment in advanced technologies, people, and processes.

“Since joining Freudenberg Medical, I have been deeply inspired by our company values and our talented global team with proven expertise in materials and technologies,” said McGee. “Together, we will build on this strong foundation and drive meaningful advancements in healthcare. We remain steadfast in delivering consistent strategic partnership and prioritizing customer success.”

Former CEO Dr. Ostwald worked at the company for 16 years in various leadership roles. The company doubled its annual revenue during his reign, expanded its global manufacturing by a third, and integrated three Joint Ventures.

In November, the company opened a new expanded facility in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim, Ireland, expanding it by 16,500 square feet.
