Johnson & Johnson is simplifying its name brand.

The company will no longer use individual monikers for its various medical technology businesses—i.e., Ethicon, DePuy Synthes, Biosense Webster, Abiomed, and CERENOVUS. Henceforth, all those businesses will fall under the Johnson & Johnson MedTech brand name.

Considered the next step of Johnson & Johnson’s updated brand and visual identity announced last fall, the change is not expected to impact medical technology products and solutions currently offered to customers.

“At Johnson & Johnson, we are addressing some of the largest unmet needs in healthcare through innovative medicine and medical technology. By bringing our medtech businesses together under the Johnson & Johnson name, the scale of our impact in healthcare will be even more apparent, unlocking new opportunities for us to strengthen our competitiveness,” stated Tim Schmid, executive vice president, worldwide chairman of J&J MedTech. “While Ethicon, DePuy Synthes, Biosense Webster, Abiomed, and CERENOVUS will now go by Johnson & Johnson MedTech, we will continue to honor the legacies of these brands by maintaining the products, services and approach to collaboration that made them some of the most trusted names in healthcare.”

Partners, customers and consumers will notice the change on social media channels and marketing materials over the next few weeks. The updated brand and visual identity will have no impact on the Johnson & Johnson MedTech portfolio.

Through its expertise in medicine and medtech, Johnson & Johnson is positioned to innovate across the full spectrum of healthcare solutions to deliver solutions. Its MedTech business offers products in the cardiovascular, orthopaedics, surgery, and vision realms.
