Biomerics LLC has doubled its micromachining capacity and is adding metals capabilities to its manufacturing footprint.

The medical device contract manufacturer has added four new Willemin-Macodel machining centers to its Santa Clara, Calif., facility and installed four systems in its Monroe, Conn., plant. The company also is planning to install four additional machines in the Connecticut facility by the middle of this year. “In only three months since joining the Biomerics family, we have seen an unprecedented increase in demand for our services,” stated Jason McCash, senior vice president of Micromachining. “We’re installing machines as fast as possible and are excited to expand and bring our expertise to the CT operation as well.”
 
Biomerics’ Connecticut and Minnesota facilities are also expanding, increasing floor space, purchasing capital equipment, and incorporating additional manufacturing technologies. “We’ve added a fifth Swiss machine with an integrated laser to the Connecticut facility, as well as additional manufacturing technologies beyond micromachining,” stated Rich Rosselli, president of Biomerics NLE.  “We have installed coil winding in Connecticut, guidewire profile grinding in Minnesota, and additional laser tube cutting capability, targeted at microcatheters, flexible needles, and steerable endoscopic devices.”
